August 24–26, 2025 | Bay Area, California
We are delighted to present Natya Samvada, a special Bharatanatyam masterclass led by the acclaimed soloist and choreographer Harinie Jeevitha, senior disciple of Dr. Smt. Sheela Unnikrishnan and faculty at Sridevi Nrithyalaya, Chennai.
This immersive training experience is designed for intermediate and advanced-level dancers seeking to expand their understanding of Bharatanatyam through original choreographies, thematic depth, and refined technique. Over the course of three days, participants will engage in learning rich compositions that explore both devotion and the classical philosophy of Natya.
About the Masterclass
Intermediate Level Item – Sharadamba Stuthi
A devotional composition in praise of Goddess Sharadamba of Sringeri, penned by Sri Chandrasekhara Bharati Swamigal. Set to music by Vidwan Sri Sriramkumar and choreographed by Harinie Jeevitha, this piece invites dancers to embody bhakti through delicate abhinaya and expressive movement.
Eligibility: For students who have completed Jathiswaram, Shabdam, and Varnam, or are currently learning Varnam. Gurus are requested to kindly recommend students who are ready for this level of depth and detail.
Advanced Level Item – Nātya Vaibhavam: The Glory of Dance
This unique composition is built upon five select verses from the Nāṭya Śāstra (Nāṭyotpatti), interlaced with rhythmic jathis. Conceived and choreographed by Harinie Jeevitha, with music by Vidwan Srikanth Gopalakrishnan, this piece highlights the philosophical grandeur of Natya and its spiritual roots.
Eligibility: Best suited for solo performers, serious practitioners, and advanced-level students who are currently preparing for their Arangetram or have completed it.
